Planning consent, or planning permission, is the authorisation needed in the United Kingdom to allow development on land, an alteration of the usage of the land or edifice or expansion of an existing building. There are different rules for different types of applications.

When businesses alter the use of their premises, they are required to obtain a planning permission. Businesses must secure a planning consent from the committee of planning permission before significantly modifying the use of their premises.
