Planning Permission application cost

Planning permission, or planning consent, is the most important requirement in the United Kingdom to be able to build on certain land. A land owner or occupant of land and buildings in the United Kingdom needs a title for the land or building, as well as a planning title, or planning permission.

In the application for planning permission, there is an application fee where the amount to be paid depends on the type of the development that is being proposed by the applicant. The amount to be paid is determined by the council or the Local Planning Authority (LPA), where the revenue from the payment of the applicants contributes to the costs of the council that handles application. It should also be noted that the fee is not refundable unless the application for the proposed development is invalid. An applicant who submits a valid application but withdraws the application before it was determined by the council will not be refunded the application fee. However, an applicant can appeal if the council fails to determine the application.

There are applications that are exempt from the fees. When a previous or recent application has been refused, withdrawn or granted, another application by the applicant who applied for the same development type and on the same site can be free of charge for a duration of 12 months. However, the council will still decide if the said rule will be applied. What is ssd?
